Days 33 and 34. Rest day in Austin and rolling out to La Grange , TX

Friday April 11. Austin to La Grange. 68 miles.

Short blog today as today was as non-descript of a day as we've had. Most if that is our fault as we abandoned the more rural roads about halfway through to take a more direct route, saving about 13 Miles?  I'm a little afraid to ask but we ended up at 68 miles and I heard others say 81 miles.

I do know this. The road we stayed on had a great shoulder and we didn't miss anything that we would kick ourselves for missing. A good decision and I was FIRST TODAY in the shower. A first for me being the first. Training, persistence and miles in the saddle help, but good shortcuts are hard to beat.

We are in east Texas. No more Hill Country. Looks a lot like home in many regards. Rolling country, pine trees appearing for the first time in a while, lots of oaks, it does look familiar. Wild flowers are still abundant and beautiful.

4 nights left in Texas.
